Over the past few weeks, the final six members of Grande Prairie Police Service Recruit Class #1, who were initially posted to the Community Standards Unit (CSU) after graduation, have begun their field training at the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment. With their arrival, a total of 23 GPPS officers are currently assigned to work alongside the RCMP.

To ensure a seamless and consistent approach to policing during the transition, all GPPS officers assigned to the detachment have received additional training on RCMP policies and procedures, complementing their core police training.

The CSU continues its work under experienced GPPS members, maintaining a strong presence in the downtown core and park system. The team remains focused on addressing social disorder and traffic concerns in key areas of the city. The RCMP remains the police of primary jurisdiction for the City of Grande Prairie.
