Detective Jason McCormick of the Grande Prairie Police Service is now one of only eight police polygraph examiners in the province of Alberta.
Detective McCormick completed the prestigious Canadian Police College Polygraph Examiners Course, an internationally recognized program that trains experienced investigators from police, military, and intelligence agencies around the world. The program involves an intensive academic phase, supervised internships, and an extensive certification period spanning nearly a year.
Polygraph examinations are a specialized investigative tool, typically used in the later stages of serious investigations, to help assess truthfulness, narrow investigative focus, and support interview strategies.
As Detective McCormick progresses through his certification under the mentorship of the Edmonton Police Service Polygraph Unit, his expertise will enhance GPPS investigative capacity, support major case investigations, strengthen interview and statement analysis practices, and contribute to integrity-based hiring through pre-employment polygraph examinations.
This achievement represents a significant addition to policing expertise in our region and reflects GPPS’s commitment to professional excellence, advanced training, and public trust.
